The Sri Lanka Social Security Board has organized a ceremony to launch the new online registration facility for the "Navikaya" social security scheme, a program established specifically for the long-term security of Sri Lanka's merchant naval community.
This event will take place under the patronage of Dr. Hon. Upali Pannilage, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment. The national event is scheduled for June 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH - Orchid Hall) premises, coinciding with the International Day of the Seafarer.
A three-day residential training program was held on November 10, 11, and 12, 2025 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) at the Nillambe Training Center, (Samurdhi Development Department, Wariyagala, Nillambe, Peradeniya) with the aim of enhancing the professional skills of the board's island-wide employed officers.
